It goes with "nine and eighteen" and glove - not so sure about "highly valued, never bought" Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

0 Guest Posted January 30, 2009 Report Share Posted January 30, 2009 Okay, some hints to get you going. You need to solve the first two riddles to answer the third. For the first riddle; whilechairand circusare good, they aren't quite what I was looking for. rings, kings, banners, lady's favor, and splintered You are all on the right track with the second riddle, but again, not what I am looking for. Be more specific. Good luck! Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Knight For nine and eighteen I am sought Though highly valued, never bought When down under I feel covered; exposed when up above In pursuit it is your choice whither to wear a glove AUGH! This is where I get lost. What in the world goes with the first? After all: The two before are finished, it now comes down to me Do you know the single word to answer riddle three? It is how I am written; it may be how you speak Put one after the other and find the answer that you seek. ....and the first two are two parts of a single word. The problem is that my second guess doesn't make sense with the first, so I can't answer the third! Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Seriously, your 2nd guess for part II & III makes perfect sense. Oooh, I was so close with that first one - I was thinking of Mandorallen, the character from Leigh & David Eddings' Belgariad/Mallorean epic. After all, his "everyday speech" is just like that last line in part I! Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

0 Guest Posted January 30, 2009 Report Share Posted January 30, 2009 Big Daddy is correct, but part two sounds more like a birdie. "Down under" I feel covered (down feathers). Up above i feel exposed (to hunters). Wearing a glove fits for birds like hawks and falcons. Obviously, birdie is widely sought and can't be bought. I realize this doesn't fit the total puzzle, but it fits better in part 2. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Adorned with rings I shook hands with kings, my banners filled the air
Keen to savor my lady's favor, I never backed down from a dare
With two I looked quite awkward; with four I stood alone
With six I was quite fearsome; my prowess widely known
I have a splintered history, my tale rarely told the same
Now tell me learned reader, dost thou know my name?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For nine and eighteen I am sought
Though highly valued, never bought
When down under I feel covered; exposed when up above
In pursuit it is your choice whither to wear a glove
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The two before are finished, it now comes down to me
Do you know the single word to answer riddle three?
It is how I am written; it may be how you speak
Put one after the other and find the answer that you seek.
