10 guys in Vegas are playing high stakes poker. Normally, one person comes out on top, but tonight something strange is going on. Each hand, everybody at the table has decent cards, they all call all the bets and all win an equal percentage of hands. The blinds start at $1000 and $2000 dollars and go up by 10% every 10 hands. They play 1000 hands. If they guys are arranged like this:

D 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10. With D being the first person on the dealer button and places 2 and 3 being the first blinds, who will go home a winner and who will go home a loser?

I know what No Limit and Pot Limit mean, what does

High Stakes mean? i.e., how much of their stake is

a player allowed to bet on each hand?

Are we told each player's starting stake? If it's $1000,

say, then all players save one could be wiped out on

the first deal.

If the stakes are unlimited, so that no one is ever wiped

out, then the single player among the ten with the most

chips is the winner and all others, still having chips, only

fewer, are the losers.

Is that the question? Which has the most chips after 1000

hands? Nobody ever goes All In?

Assume nobody is ever all in and everybody always has enough to cover any bet. High stakes just means a very high minimum bet. At the end of the night they all have chips. Who has won some and who has lost some?

I must be missing something, or maybe the riddle is.

The way I see it, there is no definitive answer because:

It doesn't say

1. if they each took turns winning hands (which would cause everyone to walk away even).

or

2. if one person won their 10% as the last 100 hands, making them the clear winner.

But maybe it is just me missing the hook.

I maybe set it up poorly by not specifying that they all alternated winning hands and all pots were equal value. I can see the confusion. The answer I was looking for is

They all lose. If they all win an equal percentage of hands and all bets are called for equal value, they will all lose based upon the house "rake."
