Question

One day a wife find's her husband dead at the dining room table, understandably upset she calls the police.

After investigating the scene the only clue the police find is a piece of paper in the man's hand that simply reads:

CIPHER

PGPDNX

HIXIXR

SXY TE

HMPUJR

There were no signs of violence or a struggle.

How did the man die?

You get computer!

Am I on to something?! :)

Glorious lateral thinking thourgh that is unfortunately not.

I don't do many code-style puzzles so I'm not sure how much info to give, I think someone will probably get it though.

I think it's more like a cryptogram - replace the letters with the appropriate one. In which case the 2nd word is probably key. I've gone through possible words (killed, murder, poison, hunger, sister) and words not 6 letters (died, suicide, wife) but haven't had any luck yet with these.

1. Why do some people just have to write in code?

2. (If iBrendan is true (which I agree with)) the poison must have been slow-working (or else he wouldn't have been able to write it)but if I were the wife I'd be more sensible and kill him instantly.
