Question

Benjamin works at a museum as a janitor. A few days ago, he stole a collection of expensive crystal goblets and replaced them with cheap imitations. He sold the originals on the black market for a small fortune. Even though the goblets in the museum are obviously fakes, he knows no one will suspect him of stealing the originals. How come?

Clues

- The goblets are not revealed as fakes

- The goblets are never examined

- Benjamin is fired

After secretly swapping the crystal, he had an "accident" while supposedly cleaning the crystal goblet exhibit, shattering the fakes and getting rid of the evidence. He was fired for incompetence.
