sorry about the spoiler bit. i dont think anything of what i said was right anyway, especially the thing with 56. but that was a very quick response. i still got no idea so im just taking a stab

just so u know i wrote a whole lot of stuff, only i somehow managed to lose it cause i dont know how this spoiler thing works. i think i added it then wrote over it when it was highlighted. but anyways, i worked out the hint and clue. the numerical values of the letters add up to 51 and 41. so maybe 31 and 39 are words and cause they = they may have the same meaning cause they cant have the same spelling, unless its a play on words, in which case the words sound the same (i may be reading into it too much). so if we have to work backwards from 31 and 39....i wouldnt have the slightest clue as to how i go about that. i might try this one again later, otherwise, very interesting

i think the first 3 letters are glo? since i went back and had a look through the other posts, you said to work the inner one out but addition. if we take 7+31 is 38 which is L and 39+7 is 46 which is O. so the answer could be glow?

I agree with this answer. I cant find any other solution. The way you have worked GEM out does not have any relation to 51 and 41 does it? I'm going to keep thinking

Do the same for CLUE it adds up to 41.

So i reckon 31 is a word and 39 is a word but the equals sign ties them in together.

Or if you count from 26 letter onward

Ok, just wanted to double check and rethink my reasoning...

I worked it out as 3+1 and 3+9 so CA=CI. And I thought CA-sea maybe and CI-as in high sea. Surrounded by a 'sea' of 7's??? That's as best as I can translate what I'm thinking into words

which is derived from all the 7's is G and 31 should give us 2 letter and 39 - 3 letters and i think if we work on your thoughts we need to find 2 letters whose sum equals 31 and 3 letters whose sum equals 39
