It's not easy, but everything makes sense and there are no extra words that are just there to make it rhyme, every line and every word count!

And continue with a dim, - if you get the previous one this one is easy, you get it the same way you do the first two letters

Become excited as I go, - both of these lines describe the same thing, first I only wanted to go with the first line but it would have been way to hard, so I added the next to make it EASY

You said every word counts, so I think in line 1 it has 6 words, so I look for a word with 6 letters that is a color and start with a "I", so is it Indigo? then like which two letters? the second line it has 5 words, so 5 letters color too, but I don't get the "dim" part. Or maybe it's all wrong

he- can refer to anyone(technically, anyway)

You are right, it's a no! With this line you gonna have to stretch further than that!

But

It says there are two letters and by writing down 'so' and 'sb' you guessed one of the two letters
