Mind Trap #437 - Dead Queen

Question:

James Diamond waiteduntil Ari Gant left the office of author Karry ueen. Diamond slipped on a pair of gloves, took a handgun from his desk, and crossed the hall to the Queen's office. As Queen glanced up to see the intruder. Diamond took aim and shot. Diamond dropped the gun on the florr, picked up the telephone on Queen's desk and called the police. He then went back across the hall to his own office and hid the gloves. Shadow arrived moments later and Diamond recounted the events. "I was working at my desk when I heard a shot. I ran to the hall and saw a man fitting the description of Ari Gant running from Queen's office. I went to Queen's office and found him sprawled on the floor dead. I immediately picked up the phone on Queen's desk and called the police." Several hours later Shadow ordered Diamond arrested for murder. Why was he so easily caught?

A big part of it would be the gloves. Not only did he ensure that his fingerprints were not on the gun, he ensured that there were NO fingerprints on the gun. As he owned the gun, and gloves, it was more likely to be him.

Scenario doesnot mention Diamond removed his gloves before calling the police. The police dusted the phone for prints and couldn't find any of Diamond's. Circumstantial evidence!

I initially thought of the missing fingerprints on the phone, but since everyone else got that, I decided I'd try a different (and somewhat far-fetched) spin on that. Maybe GSR (gun shot residue) transferred from the gloves to the phone, so whoever made the call would also be the shooter...

Like I said, I watch wayyyy too much Law and Order

Mindtrap is actually a board game that has a large amount of numbered cards with brain teasers and mystery problems on them (thus the repeated use of characters like Shadow)

Yeah, mind trap is a board game (there is Mind Trap 2 ) but cant find it in any shops here. I was thinking about adding my name ( Taliesin ) instead of player names in the card, but decided to stick true to the origional question.

@Mumbles: Because you know all about Mind Trap, does that mean you have played it, or own a copy?? If so you could easly jusy "look up the answer"

My brother owned a copy when we were younger but I never played. The game is currently either in Kansas with his family or at my parent's house in Virginia. Either way, I have no access to it and only remember the weird design on the outside of the box as I'd move it to get to Trivial Pursuit (my favorite game)

Ha! Funny.. I could never find anyone to play it with me, so I just went through reading most the question ( 500 is quite a lot to read).
