Question

 Everyone has said that if bolts carried on running to the line he could have shaved of another 10th of a second, but if he can shave off another second like that could'nt he therefore shave of a bit more with a better start or just run a little faster, where is the absolute cut off point or can a fraction of a second still be taken off every time the race is run until it takes 0 seconds to run 100 meters. are you serious?

presumably bolt was running as fast as he could (that is, as fast as his body would allow him to go given its condition) up until the last 10-15 meters or so of the race. that's the moment when, it appears on the video, he eased up and purposely slowed down. the argument is that had he maintained his effort level (that is, he had continued to run as fast as his body would allow him), he would have finished the race sooner.

of course anyone could run a faster race with a better start, and that applies to bolt. and yes, everyone would run the race faster if they could just "run a little faster," but each of our body has an ability to run only so fast, depending on its shape and conditioning. but the question is non-sensical when it asks whether you can always take off a fraction of a second until it takes 0 seconds to run 100 meters. it's not even theoretically possible to run 100 meters in zero seconds because any movement, no matter how quick, takes some amount of time.
