Question

What is the next color(word) and what color is it in? Please give reasoning to your logic.

black

blue

brown

green

If you can get that, try to complete the entire sequence (Hint: It is only 9 long).

great puzzle :D

Thank you. I wanted to do something with colors.

I'm sorry, Chacha, rl_socal, and windchime, your answers aren't correct, though the correect answer has already been found and posted.

rl_socal, your answer was actually quite close, only off by a few. You got the words right, just not the colors, though some colors were right.

For those who only want a hint:

There are only 9 colors involved.

Spoiler for They are::

red,blue,green,yellow,orange,purple,brown,black,and white.

The two patterns use the same colors, they just aren't in the same order.

Why only 9 colors? Where's teal, silver, maroon, and gray? Magenta? Puce? Vermilion?

Well, those are the basic 9 colors. The 3 primary and 3 secondary, black and white, the ends of the spectrum, and brown (a mixture of colors), which I added in the end.

It would have gotten complicated with all the possible colors I could have done.

All colors have a hexidecimal code. It's basically a number for each color. When you change the text color in a reply, the number in the brackets is the hexidecimal number of the color. Like this:

{color="#FF0000"}red{/color}

replace {} with [] and you get:

red

FF0000 is the number of the color red(this one, at least).

Black is 000000 and white is FFFFFF.

That's 16777216 colors total.

Yeah, I think it would have been somewhat long with 16777216 colors.

No, there is actually very little math involved, just a little with ordering.

Wow, you got the colors batgirl! Though not for the reason I had, but logically similar.

black

blue

brown

green

orange

purple

red

white <- white in yellow

yellow <- yellow in white

The words were in alphabetical order.

The colors were from least to greatest based on their hexidecimal code.

Reminds me of a nerdy poem:

Roses are FF0000

Violets are 0000FF

All of my base

Are belong to you.

Sorry, but that doesn't even follow the first four colors in the pattern I gave you. The word brown is in the color green, not brown, and few other colors are the same as the word. B))
