Guest
If forty bakers can cook 20 pizzas in 2 hours (120 min), than how long does it take for 2 bakers to bake 10 pizzas?
0 Guest
Assuming they are using just one oven... Reveal hidden contents Then, 60 minutes. 120 / 2 =
0 Guest
Reveal hidden contents Assuming that each additional baker reduces the cooking time by a constant amount, I would say... 33 minutes 20 seconds. However, if there are 40 ovens and it takes 2 hours for a pizza to bake, then it would still take 2 hours.
0 Guest
Reveal hidden contents It sounds a bit silly, maybe it would only take 10 mins because the bakers wouldnt be getting under each others feet, but i must of done something wrong because I make it 20 hours? maybe its that time of night Edited June 3, 2008 by Georgie
0 Guest
Reveal hidden contents 20 hours! 20 pizza for 40 baker x 120 min = 1 / 240 pizza per baker-min so 10 pizzas required 240 x 10 = 2400 baker-min. Since only 2 bakers avaialbe, the time taken should be 1200 min or 20 hours
0 Guest
Reveal hidden contents I got 20 hours. If forty bakers can cook 20 pizzas in 2 hours, then 2 bakers can cook 1 pizza in 2 hours. to cook 10 it will take 20 hours.

Many people have got this, but here's the explanation. Reveal hidden contents If forty bakers can cook 20 pizzas in 120 minutes, then... two bakers would take twenty times as long... so, two bakers can cook 20 pizzas in 2,400 minutes. And they could cook 10 pizzas in half that time.... So, two bakers, can cook 10 pizzas, in 1200 minutes... In other words, the correct answer is 20 hours, which other people have. 0 Guest
this question is easy, it just tricks people because they think that less people means less time, but isnt...
0 Guest
also, those pizza bakers must be very slow, it takes the local pizza shop like 10 mintues to cook a large cheese pizza (yum)
0 Guest
I don't know what I was thinking with my previous guess. Reveal hidden contents Still assuming that there is a direct, negative correlation between # of cooks and cooking time, 20 hours makes sense. If there is one oven and it takes 6 minutes per pizza, regardless of the number of bakers, then it would take 1 hour to cook 10 pizzas. 0 Guest
Ya see, I'm thinking of it in this way: The number of Chefs doesn't matter unless there are multiple ovens. If there are more, then that is one slow kitchen. If there is one, then each pizza is maybe being put in there one at a time, meaning that each pizza has to cook before the next one goes in, meaning that each pizza cooks in 6 minutes. 10 * 6 = 60 minutes. HOWEVER, pizza ovens often hold more then one pizza at a time, which further compicates matters...
0 Gambit
Reveal hidden contents i got 300 mins...the riddle seems incomplete so ur answer depends on the assumptions you make nevermind... its wrong. serious miscalculation on my part... eagles right. less ppl doesn't mean less time... 0 Gambit
Reveal hidden contents Assuming that there is 1 oven and this oven makes one pizza at a time: then the number of chefs douesn't matter and 10 pizzas will take half the time to make than 20 pizzas. therefore 10 pizzas = 120/2 = 60 mins
