Question

I read the rules before posting a new puzzle or riddle. I searched and found there is a ranking system for answers. A lot of the brain teasers seem to be math, so I looked up solve in wikipedia and linked my way over to riddles - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Riddles

I'm wondering what ya'll have found :-P any good guide lines for riddles and puzzle writing out there?

I would say word it well, kind of flesh out a background story (unless it's a simple word riddle or challenge) and make the story a bit capturing, so that people read the riddle- and don't make the solution too obvious, though you can make it as hard as you please :P Make sure that the riddle is clear and people can understand it well

other than that, there's no real "format" to use
