Question

In the year 1926.. An intelligent young man was just reading the local newspaper..

After reading the headline of the newspaper.. He was so suprised , that he actually panicked..

The Headline that he read was this :

"A legendary marine , hero from World War I , who has been loyal to this country for many years dies in a car crash under mysterious circumstances.."

What makes the young man so suprised from that headline?

World War 2 didn't start until 1939, the title says World War 1.

He's surprised because the headline infers another World War has happened.

Nevermind, this was my guess BEFORE I reread the bit at the beginning saying "in 1926" I was confused and foolish.

World War I ended in 1918. To have been part of it, let's assume the guys was at least 15 (lied about his age).

That would make him 108. Probably older.

The RECORD for the oldest person is currently at 115.
