i'm not quite sure- if you hold the sheet with the ads up to the light, you can sort of see through them, but not completely.

Statman, I don't understand your answers to [1]. In what way can you not see through them?

The last time I checked, I couldn't see through a telescope, as it is a solid object. But, you can look through it's lenses when it is held to the eye.

Can you see through these? Maybe I just have bad eyesight, but they look fairly solid to me, and they seem to photograph well. You can, however, look through them.

Something else bugged me, radio telescopes and electron microscopes are only viewed from a sceen and not directly looked at/through. These are therefore excluded anyway, Hubble inclusive - is not looked through or viewe other than by computer re-imaging for the human eye.

Still need convincing - sorry!
