I'm supposing you've all heard of the riddle about the two men, one being a liar, and the other being a truth teller. If not, it's probably posted somewhere in this site. Anyway...let's give this old riddle a little intergalactal twist...

On Mars, there are two species of aliens. The carpals, the truth tellers, and the tarsals, the liars.

An astronaut lands on Mars and finds three aliens. She asks them what species they belong to.

The first one mumbles something that the astronaut can't discern. The second one replies, "It said it was a Carpal."

The third says to the second, "You are a liar!"

What culture does the third alien belong to?

(by the way, I don't believe in giving the answers right away. It's always tempting to peek, for me at least, and it's more fun to try and figure it out on your own)

In the following two cases, the first did not answer the question, but said something like "I'm sorry, the jets on your rocket are noisy. Could you please repeat the question?"
