0 Guest Posted November 16, 2010 Report Share Posted November 16, 2010 (edited) Peter is twice as old as Paul was when peter was as old as paul is now.The sum of their ages is 35. Let peter an pauls current age be pe, pu respectively and let there ages be pe1 and pu1 in some past time receptively. difference of their ages is always same => (pe-pu) = (pe1-pu1) ------ 1 Pe+pu = 35 ---- Given pe = 2pu1 ------ 2 pe1 = pu ------- 3 From 1 and 3 (pe-pu) = (pu - pu1) ------ 4 From 4 and 2 (pe-pu) = (pu-pe/2) 3pe = 4pu 3pe = 4(35-pe) => 7pe = 4 * 35 => pe =20 and pu = (35-20) = 15 Edited November 16, 2010 by Srikanth Mujjiga Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
