Why have I put some letters above the line and some below?

Kids'll get it in a blink, usually. Adults... Not so easily. It's really obvious though!

The ones underneath have curves

Unfortunately, a riddle of this basic idea has already been posted by Ccomzistory:

A simple search of the keyword "letters" would have yielded that.

The only difference between the two topics is that you put the letters in alphabetical order.

...Just saying.

Above letters are using only straight lines but below has some curve letters.
