Question

I started out in Egypt,

In England I was tried.

Though two ends I do have,

they are not alike.

One end to leave behind,

my other wants to strike.

Much softer on the inside,

than my outside ever liked.

If it were much harder,

The longer I would last.

Cross the line I've laid,

I'll remove it pretty fast.

A small little hint,

so you do not fail.

The origin of my name,

It means "Little tail".

I figured it out before my first post, but it wasn't my first thought... Banana was my first thought as I was reading the first part, then had a good laugh with the last line :D

After that I reread and had a :duh: moment when I got to the eraser bit...

That's my usual process, but I thought I would post my thoughts in order to see what happened :D

Cool riddle BTW hammie
