Question

When I read a riddle on the age of the bus driver, I came up with this one.

A bus drives up to stop 1. 4 people get on

the bus drives up to stop 2. 2 people get on

the bus goes to the next stop. 8 people get on 2 people get off

then the bus goes to the mall. everybody get off and the bus drives off.

how many people are left in the bus?

You said everybody gets off afer the bus goes to the mall.

How does the bus drive off if no one is in it?

Hmmmm....

I can think of two scenarios

  1. This takes place in the future where buses are fully automated and need no driver. Zero people on the bus after the mall.
  2. The driver is in the bus and at each stop people actually get on top of the bus (thrill-seekers, perhaps. Probably against the law too) at the mall everyone who was on the bus gets off, leaving the driver the only one in the bus.

There are ZERO people left, you said EVERYBODY got off.

Assuming there was a driver in the first place, he/she got off too.. If the driver stayed on, then the statement

everybody get off
would be false. As far as
the bus drives off.
the driver clearly forgot to set the parking brake, many cars were damaged, the driver lost his job and has to repay for the damages to the cars & the starbucks where the bus came to rest.

You never said anyone got on at the mall. So with your logic, 64 other people may have gotten on whilst the driver was in the potty.

Therefore 65 would be just as valid.

you're right, he didn't get back on. I'll tell you what happened.

The driver forgot the parking brake. It rolled down the hill and crashed into starbucks. Then Lil Stinker hopped into the bus and drove off.

:D
Satisfied?
