Guest
this is what i thought: move '1' to the other side of the equation so nothing is left on the right hand side (ie. 0!) so u get: 101-102+1 = 0 hows that!
Guest
I believe that you could not add a numeral eg. 101-102=1 has 4-1s 1-2s 2-0s and yours has 3-0s.

Guest
What about 101 - 10 = 21 (in base 3) You would count 0, 1, 2, 10, 11, 12, 20, 21, 22, 100, 101 etc...
Guest
How about this Take the top half of the equal sign and move it over the top of the minus sign. 101 = 102 - 1.
Guest
How about this Take the top half of the equal sign and move it over the top of the minus sign. 101 = 102 - 1. that would also work. but that wouldn't be moving a numeral
Guest
I thought that but realised it wasn' "moving a numeral." It took me longer to find the answers - your puzzles are great!
Guest
Motto: 'To Start Press Any Key'. Where's the ANY key? - Homer Simpson Back in the old days, very old days - 8 bit processors, 5-1/4 floppies and dreams of hard drives - I met a man whose business it was to provide telephone support for the users of his client's software. He told me that the most commonly asked question was "Where is the any key?" It wasn't long before software publishers went to "Press the space bar to continue." I spent a long time with this one without an answer becuase it was not mentioned in the instructinos that you can add or remove mathematical opperators. Guest
you could also move the line above the equals sign 101-102=1 ===> 101=102-
Guest
101 = 102 - 1 this seems to be more straight forward rather than the square of 10 solution.. move the - from the rhs to lhs sign
