Guest
What is the length California's coastline? You have a ten foot pole, a yardstick, a ruler, and an inch long piece of string at your disposal.
0 Guest
The answer I am thinking of is related to an abstract math and physics field of study, but the concept is not that hard to understand. It is important to recognize the difference between length and distance. Try using each of the tools i listed to painstakingly make measurements and see what conclusions you can draw from that
0 Guest
It seems like there'd be no limit to the length, since the more precisely you measure each little jog and jag with the string, the longer the length would measure. 0 Guest
The coast is infinite in length; the materials are useless. If you look at the coast in higher and higher detail, there will be more and more surface area, and therefore, more length. You can keep on going forever and ever, but you just get smaller and smaller, even past atoms. Ergo, there is infinite length.(Geometric explanation)
