Everyday Mr. Jones rides the elevator to the 12th floor, then gets out and climbs the stairs to the 22nd floor.
Every night he rides the elveator all the way down from the 22nd to the 1st.

He is NOT on a diet, nor is it just for exercise.

Why does he do it?

It,s not at all easy.Actually it needs a fair amount of lateral thinking. But I had heard a similar one earlier,thus making it easier. ;)
