what are you supposed to do?

you have to move just one matchstick in a way that the mathematical sum is true

( note that the letters given below are roman numericals

eg 'I' is used for '1' )

eg. III(3) + I(1) = IIIIII (6)

sol---- IIII(4) + I(1) = IIIII(5)

I moved one stick from 6 making the no. to 5 and brought it to 3 making it 4

see the attachment for actual puzzle or i have written it below

IIII + II = III

Since the OP doesn't specify HOW this needs to be done, I'm going to take the super easy way out for now:

Simply move any one match from the |||| on the LHS and put it on top of the equals sign to give you:

||| + || ≠ |||

So, 3 + 2 does NOT equal 3...voila, I moved one match stick to make it a completely valid mathematical equation. :D

change it so its:

5 - 3 = 2

(in matchstick form)

Since the original was

|||| + || = |||

and you're only allowed moving 1 matchstick...I don't see how you can get

||||| - ||| = ||

out of that (you'd have to move 2 matchsticks...1 from the plus to make it a minus, and one from the RHS to make it ||)...

but you can get

||||| - || = ||| (5 - 2 = 3)...so, you just had your numbers flipped...so good answer!
