That it's some sort of fish - fishes have scales, which can weigh objects, but also are very light. Also they live in the sea (traditionally dead sailors were sewn into their hammocks and thrown overboard.

However, the 'namesake promise' eludes me; something to do with preventing sea levels rising?

Maybe an icefish?? :wacko: - as far as I am aware, as long as the land ice stays solid then sea levels won't rise much....

Am I on the right track? :):)

perhaps "to fish" sports of fishing or just for food purposes...

this is a fish

its soat weight something but nothing out of water and there is a matter od scales which refers to weight

need fish with violent name

Rainbow fish? (I am aware that there are probably more specific rainbow-something-fishes within related groups, but this seemed to fit the bill and I'm no marine biologist lol).
