Don't be too hard on yourself. It's a pretty nice one none the less. When I make a riddle, I start with a bunch of verse that describes it. Then I eliminate what will make it altogether to obvious. For instance with your riddle, I would change it to:

in sunset and sunrise the clouds look different colors

that refers to cloud colors, especialy during the evening or in the morning. clouds are also blue during storms
