You are a boy in fifth grade and you walk halfway to your bus stop on a very chilly day. Then you stop and realize that you forgot your jacket.You wan't to reach the bus stop but if you get your jacket and you miss the bus. If you go to the bus stop then you will get a cold. You don't want to get a cold but you don't want to miss the bus. What do you do?

You go home you miss the bus but your parents will drive you. You can not get a cold and then you get to school even without the bus.

1) You phone mum on your mobile and tell her "bring me my jacket, and hurry, the bus is coming!"

OK seriously.

2) You run home, grab your jacket, and run back to the bus-stop. Since you are halfway to the busstop, you will need to cover 1.5 x the distance from home to the busstop, in the time that you would have taken to walk the remaining half of the distance. Assuming you run at least 3 times as fast as you walk (and who doesn't except unfit smokers like me?), you will get there at or before the same time you would have walking. (Plus you will be very warm from running, so you probably won't need the jacket after all.)

3) You walk home briskly, grab your jacket, stand outside your house and flag down the bus when it comes past (assuming it approaches from the direction of the busstop).

lol from what i remember of school bus drivers i think that at best this would get you a dirty look from the bus driver and pointing from the other kids on the bus as they blow by you...bus drivers were always so mean about not stopping to pick you up from anywhere other than a stop...i guess they have to feel like they have some kind of power

LOL. It sounds like YOU are the boy in fifth grade. If you are half way to the bus stop and will get the cold by going to the bus stop you will also get the cold if you turn back as you have to cover the same distance. Sounds like you're out of luck especially that your parents already left for work
