Question

There is an infinite sequence:

0, 1, 2, 0, 6, 9, 3, 2, 0, 1, 3, 6, 5, 6, 8, 0, 6, 8, 3, . . .

If you convert the digits 0-9 to letters using the map 0=A, 1=B, 2=C,...,9=J,

the word CAB happens to occur, starting with the 8th term.

Find the first occurrence of the five-letter word meaning "2 : made dull, apathetic, or cynical by experience or by surfeit..."

The eighth term in the sequence has to be 2, namely the eighth number in the sequence, separated by commas. We all know what the five letter word is. Our problem is to sort out the logical sequence of the successive numerals.

Heh...

O.K. -- A hint about how the sequence is generated: Think about right-angled subterranean plant parts.

Well since you gave away the sequence, will the calculator on my computer have enough decimal places (31) to complete this one?

Edit: nevermind

didn't get far enough to see the loop

Try looking at the square root of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, ... carried out to quite a few decimal places. Then compare the decimal portions of those square roots, respectively, to terms 1,2,3,4,5,... in the sequence and look for the connection. The sequence continues: 0,5,9,5,9,0...

how did you get that, would you please show me the next few numbers in the sequence
