gavin has it right bonanova. even presuming axc* and axb* were mirror images, they would sill be congruent however.
-
while technically correct, i did not define B* and C* very well, it's not the flaw i am looking for. even if they were defined properly as points, the proof would still stand.
-
you are indeed correct gavin, that is the incorrect step. the difficult part is proving that's the incorrect step.
-
if you watch numberphile, then you've probably already seen this "proof" never the less its quite entertaining. start with three randomly drawn intersecting lines. label the vertices A,B,C. take the midpoint of BC and draw a perpendicular line away from A. we know that two lines from points B and C to this line are of the same length if they meet at the sme point. draw the angle bisector of BAC. we know that a line perpendicular to AB that meets this line, is equal to a line that goes from the same point to AC and is perpendicular to AC. call the point where the angle bisector, and the perpendicular bisector meet X. draw lines from B to X and C to X. we know these two lines are equal. draw a line from X to AB that is perpendicular to AB, call it B* and a line from X to AC that is perpendicular to AC call it C*. these two lines will also be equal. therefore, By the hypotenuse leg theorem, BXB* = CXC*, and therefore BB* = CC*. also, by the hypotenuse leg theorem, AXB* = AXC*. and therefore AB* = AC*, and thus AB = AC! your job is to find the flaw.

a little less obvious, good guess though.
-
i'll offer a bonus point if you can guess what's significant about these 10 points.
-
i *think* though haven't confirmed that the last one, a to j will be slightly shorter than the rest. not by much mind you, but still shorter. never the less you are correct. 16.18, or more accurately, (1+sqrt(5))*5.

in order to describe a word, we often refer to it's definition. but what's the definition of definition?
-
there are 10 points on a circle. a -b = b -c = c -d = d -e = e -f = f -g = g -h = h -i = i -j aprox = j -a with e being between a and b, f between b, c, g between c, d, h between a, e, i between b, f, and j between c, g. what's the distance between a and b? assume a circle of radius 10.

no you can't

this game is loosely based on the mist series. you control a character who has to navigate obstacles and solve various puzzles to get linking books, which warp you into a new world. anyone can submit an action, and actions will be attempted in the order they are posted. you awake naked in a room with no memory of how you got there or even who you are. you see a fire in the fire place, a table with a book on it and a chair next to it, a dresser with three shelves and a backpack on it, and a door with a keypad. actions: examine bed take backpack open top drawer open middle drawer open bottom drawer open book take book sit in chair flip chair over look under table examine keypad open door

inspired by bonanova's puzzle, here's mine. there are three boxes each containing a prime. it is known that the largest of the three is no more than twice the size of the smallest. (so 7, 11, 13 is the smallest possible values for the three boxes.) you open one box, and must guess whether your number is smaller, larger or in between the other two values. which should you guess?
-
found this interesting idea on the web over at xkcd. <number> := <prime> <number> := <composite> <composite> := <number> <number> <prime> := 1 <prime> := 'p' '(' <composite> ')' <prime> := 'p' <prime> then the first 20 numbers are: 1 p1 pp1 p1p1 ppp1 pp1p1 p(p1p1) p1p1p1 pp1pp1 p1ppp1 pppp1 p1p1pp1 p(p1pp1) p1p(p1p1) pp1ppp1 p1p1p1p1 pp(p1p1) p1pp1pp1 p(p1p1p1) p1p1ppp1 can you generate the next 20?

hmm. i'll vote barca. 1) Phil1882 - Barca 2) Nana77 - voting for Barca 3) bonanova 8) plasmid - voting for Nana 12) Barca - voting for Nana 4) tolecnal - DEAD [Martian Manhunter] lynched 5) flamebirde - DEAD [Hawkgirl] killed by Supervillains 6) onetruth - DEAD [?] killed by Supervillains 7) dee_tot - DEAD [?] killed by Supervillains 9) TwoaDay - DEAD [Zatanna] lynched 10) Kikacat123 - DEAD [?] killed by Amazo 11) Araver - DEAD [Black Canary] lynched
-
i went through about half. most of the riddles were too hard for me.
-
I guess I might as well reveal... I'm superman. I saved nana night 1 and night 3, bonanova night 4. I wanted to keep it a secret because as the last hero with save, I'll probably be targeted by villains "tonight", and I can't save myself.

1) Phil1882 -plasmid 2) Nana77 -plasmid 3) bonanova 4) tolecnal - DEAD [Martian Manhunter] lynched 5) flamebirde - DEAD [Hawkgirl] killed by Supervillains 6) onetruth - DEAD [?] killed by Supervillains 7) dee_tot - DEAD [?] killed by Supervillains 8) plasmid 9) TwoaDay - DEAD [Zatanna] lynched 10) Kikacat123 11) Araver - DEAD [Black Canary] lynched 12) Barca

well a baddie just used a lynch save. that's what i know. the only reason i can think of for a baddie to do that is if you're a baddie.

i dont have any info on bonanova. just a wild guess there. i suspect nana is being honest. but again just a shot in the dark. if you must know my role... i come from a far away world, how about that, for role reveal?

hey us goodies have to stick together. especially when we lost two of 'em already.
