Question

Hark, we have a victory!

Time to have a drink I think:

Mogen David 20/20 multiplied by five

Quite a quantity it seems,

But its merely just a homophone.

Have ye the brains to match my wits?

Are you feeling lucky?

Then its time to check the checker!

what is the result?

since I imagine that this may be very out of league for many people, I have decided to include some useful hints.

the riddle is not a "whole" that tells what something is.. it is a cleverly encrypted description of telling you what to do with a particular application. a very uncommon application. actually, part of it is a play on words to tell you the name of the application (broken into three parts), the other part of the riddle is telling you what must be done with the application. clever deciphering of the application name as well as a blatant line should lead you to finding the exact version I have (this is tantamount to a correct solution). finally, you must perform the correct action with the application in order to provide proper results.

worry not about the application size... it is very light weight.

not solve-able on Unix-like OSes. windows only. hint hint.

we have a victory = wave ??

time to have a drink I think = tiam (tea time + I am [i think, therefore I am])

Mogen David 20/20 multiplied by five = MD5 ??

I'm just not sure what to do with these, assuming they are correct.

part of that is correct... part of it was introductory to what the part was that you got correct... the part before the introductory part is wrong. the introductory part does not equate to anything, merely introduces the new part of the puzzle - the middle part of the name.

MD 20/20 is an alcoholic drink - the bit before it introduced it.

part one of the app name is a snyonym of a word in the first line

part three of the app name is a homophone of a synonym of a word in the fourth line

Hark, we have a victory!...Victory = Win (Windows...not linux)

Time to have a drink I think: (Alcohol 120% so maybe ISO)

Mogen David 20/20 multiplied by five

Quite a quantity it seems,(quantity= amount= mount)

But its merely just a homophone.

Have ye the brains to match my wits?

Are you feeling lucky?

Then its time to check the checker!

soooo so far I have a Windows ISO Mount

only the first part is right. kudos on that.

ISO's are huge files. when you download them, you should generally find out if they downloaded correctly.

Victory = Win

Mogan David 20/20 times 5 = MD5

quantity = some = sum

winMD5sum.exe is an app that gives the MD5 hash of files. I'm on a mac right now, but I'd assume that the right answer to the riddle would be to download winmd5sum.exe and then use it to find the md5 hash of the executable itself.

that would be precise.

now, if you want to take a gander at finding that:

Mogen David makes what kind of drinks (generally)

that is the name of an application you can use on a MAC or Linux in order to run a windows based application ;)
