You put eight of the horses in the eight boxes, and two horses in the ninth box ...

Why not put 10 horses in five boxes and hire out the others... \$\$\$\$\$\$\$\$\$ - makes cents to me (LOL)

You could arrange them to make a pseudo-box (highlighted in red.)

Ok then, put three horses in one box and then have a box left over

Now that I call thinking inside and outside the box, but you would have to use the ninth for the top - and that still leaves the bottom ?????

Unless onw accepts "boxed in." Which frankly, I do.

I don't know why I would be putting horses in boxes, but based on what the question says, I would have to say let two double up. After all, the problem doesn't restrict the sizes of the boxes.

Will think over night - put nine horses in nine boxs and let one go, come to think of it - let them all go, it's the way nature intended.

G'night

At first you put 2 horses in box 1, horse No 3 in box 2, horse 4 in box 3, horse 5 in box 4, ........, horse 9 in box 8. There remains box 9 empty, and you take one of the 2 horses (let's call it horse 10) from box 1 and put it there.

Ten_horses

does not allow for palce holder (space ) or is that double dutch

EG if it was two numbers it would look like one longer number

Betting this is the answer though

Goed aantword.
