Question

“Honey, I’m home,” the husband said,

As he entered the house, his new homestead.

Tomorrow the papers, he will sign,

To prove that the house is no longer mine.

What were the papers and where did he go?

Absolutely, you aught to know.

My last ready-made riddle, then I must think of some more.

I assume 'aught' is not an error? Title, his dead parent's house.

nothing about parents whatsoever. And, you learn something everyday. I didn't realize that there was ever a difference between aught and ought. I always thought they were alternative spellings for the same word. I just looked it up, and you are right, I'm wrong.

It should read: ought.

with last mortgage rate, where house now no longer belongs to the bank?

there are a few equally possible scenarios

No, something simple and commonly known by all, something you must sign to prove the house is now yours.

Hampstead in London?

no. Haha. Homestead isn't anything special, it's just the word I chose for home which rhymed with said. : ) The answer is very simple. But it might take a bit to see.
