1,3,4,2,-5,-19 simplifies to

2,1,2,-7,-14

I noticed that the odd #'s in the sequence are the product of the 2 numbers before it. Still working on the even ones. I am just posting this because I'm bad at this and sort of want to know if I'm heading in the right direction....

I don't know where you're going,

but I do know it's not in the right direction.

But if it leads you to a nice, cheap, fast-food restaurant, it can't be that bad ;)

so the sequence goes:

1^2 = 1

2^2 - 1^2 = 3

3^2 - 2^2 - 1^2 = 4

4^2 - 3^2 - 2^2 - 1^2 = 2

5^2 - 4^2 - 3^2 - 2^2 - 1^2 = -5

6^2 - 5^2 - 4^2 - 3^2 - 2^2 - 1^2 = -19

7^2 - 6^2 - 5^2 - 4^2 - 3^2 - 2^2 - 1^2 = -42

8^2 - 7^2 - 6^2 - 5^2 - 4^2 - 3^2 - 2^2 - 1^2 = -76

9^2 - 8^2 - 7^2 - 6^2 - 5^2 - 4^2 - 3^2 - 2^2 - 1^2 = -123

10^2 - 9^2 - 8^2 - 7^2 - 6^2 - 5^2 - 4^2 - 3^2 - 2^2 - 1^2 = -185

So the next 4 would be -42, -76, -123, -185

8^2 - 7^2 - 6^2 - 5^2 - 4^2 - 3^2 - 2^2 - 1^2 = -76

9^2 - 8^2 - 7^2 - 6^2 - 5^2 - 4^2 - 3^2 - 2^2 - 1^2 = -123

10^2 - 9^2 - 8^2 - 7^2 - 6^2 - 5^2 - 4^2 - 3^2 - 2^2 - 1^2 = -185

So the next 4 would be -42, -76, -123, -185

Correct mordimar :)

I know I'm just about to make myself sound stupid.......

a^b mean? I was thinking it meant something along the lines of a x the square root of b, but that does not seem to be what it is.

I'm only in 7th grade! Don't take algebra until next year and wont take algebra 2 until either 9th or 10th grade depending on whether or not I take geometry at duke tip center for summer studies (a summer program that you can do based on 7th grade sat scores....), which is why I don't know it.

^ means to the power of its what we people online use when we can't do the real thing, like

X^2= x squared,

If this isn't enough, please state so.
