1. The person turned on the TV to a movie trailer (showing the girl) and also started playing the DVD of the movie

2. After watching the DVD/movie for 5 minutes, the girl gets kidnapped

UK - the show was known for its way of solving almost impossible scenarios (btw it was a drama)

Well that explains why I can't think of any US shows that have this scenario.
