Forget all your "logic" about weight and you have one possible soluion that never leaves the wolf with the goat or the goat with the cabbage:
1. take the goat to side B (the wolf isn't interersted in the cabbage)
2. go back to side A and bring the wolf to side B
3. bring the goat back to side A and return to side B with the cabbage, leave the goat on side A
4. return to side A and bring the goat back to side B
That should do it!

You take the goat first because the wolf wont eat the cabbage. Then you bring over the cabbage leave it and pick back up the goat. Then go back over and drop off the goat and pick up the wolf. Then you drop off the wolf go back and pick up the cabbage. It doesnt say how many times you can cross
