Question

Mocking and scoffing, jeer.

Witty jest, try not to hear.

Quite sarcastic and sharp,

A really cunning remark.

A practical joke, a trick.

A real gibe, make it stick.

nettle?

works better with the last line but the title? think I'll still be thinking on this one...

My titles aren't always a hint/clue. Not that sorry. Maybe a rewrite is in order, I will think on that tonight.

Since "try not to hear" has thrown PG off, maybe it has done the same for others as well. I changed that line, hoping it will help.

Mocking and scoffing, jeer.

Witty jest, not very sincere.

Quite sarcastic and sharp,

A really cunning remark.

A practical joke, a trick.

A real gibe, make it stick.

Don't know if this will help or make it more difficult.

If the 2nd line is confusing, it would still be solvable without.

needle? or barb? both make for some double meaning with some of the clues. grasping I know but wont let this one go.

Since you brought this back to life (thank you!) I wish I could say you had the correct answer, but I can't. Please don't give up though.

disingenuous? also means naive, which is usually associated with being young (adolescent)... Just a thought..

Hey there, not that. But you are getting where I am going. I want you to find a word that is uncommon. Keep it up!! (By the way, the asnwer is not exclusive to adolescence...just a title that worked.)

Has not been guessed yet, great guess. I wish I could give it to you, but my answer is only 1 word. Please keep those great guesses coming.

After the re-write....trying again

devasting, scornful, or maybe...pungent.

Great guesses PG and Jkb, but those are words we could hear from day to day. The one I am looking for wont be heard very often, if at all. (I can't remember the last time I heard it.)

PG, you are definitely going the right direction with those. Jkb, try going back in the other directions you have tried. :) Thanks for keeping this'n alive guys!

Edit: typos and such.

I do not mind at all, I could have done that - sorry I didn't think of it guys. That is not right, but it is good. Just needs to be a bit less common. Thanks for not giving up.
