Question

When coming up with something that rhymed with red,

I immediately put that challenge to bed.

And when I tried to rhyme something with blue,

I found that one easily too.

And when it came down to yellow,

I think chose a great fellow.

I found a pretty good rhyme for pink-

At least, that’s what I think.

I easily found a rhyme for green,

But most reading this know what I mean.

I even found one for the dreaded orange,

Though coming up with that makes me cringe.

But there’s one that stands out, and I’m losing my mind,

I don’t even think purple has a rhyme!

So I guess I have to settle on violet-

that changes the meaning, but don’t throw a fit.

color wheel...primary and secondary colors

Is this gonna be like the riddle Colors where everyone got confused because I hilighted the color words with their colors so they tried to guess literally when it was really a metaphor?

If so, I should have known better.

I have no idea what "Colors" is, and if its a metaphor you should have said so. Don't expect everyone to know what kind of riddle it is, if it's not a simple WAI.

I'm not saying this is a metaphor. I'm asking if you're confused because I hilighted all the color words.

P.S. pay more atention to the words around the color words, not just the colors themselves.

Gurgle?

Her skull?

Couple?

With a little research... color theory?

Distinctions... gray area?

Substitute?

I think I remember reading something about how purple tends to be a depressing color, so depression? Failure?

EDIT: depression would fit with your hint, looking at words like cringe or dread. I'm surprised you didn't go with mellow for yellow

I don't think of it as that depressing color, but that's just me. cringe is there just because it's the only thing that I could come up with that even sort of rhymes with orange. I don't know why a skull would be purple...

You could change the colors to a different catigory like animals or food and it still fit. It's not the colors themselves, but how I talk about them.

My first three guesses were just random things that rhyme with purple, ha.

Brainstorm?

how can I put this? so close but so far? I have no coment on your answer that would make any sense without giving away the real answer.

I kind of figured you were rhyming with purple, but in most poems it not only has to rhyme, But it has to make sense!

and there is a major hint somwhere in this post, but I don't think it's that obvious...

Is the fact that you capitalized But after a comma, and did not capitalize the last line in the riddle, significant?

No. I didn't even notice that! Somtimes I just randomly capitalize words without relizing it. Most of the time I catch it, but...

Well know that I think about it, it does sort of kind of have somthing to do with it, but that would be going waaay out on a limb by saying that!

exactly...

rhyming, riddling, or maybe even something like guessing other's riddles (there was a reference to rhyming with orange or purple in mine)

Ya thanks for the inspiration. And that's basicly on the right track too.
