Question

A cup of this, a bunch of these,

a part of countless recipes.

Aha! That look, you've found my trail,

now dig for truth, tooth and nail.

It makes perfect sense to me,

but for some it may be hard to see,

so a hint to help you save your time,

with orange or purple, it does rhyme.

Martini changed it because it wasn't descriptive...

and the guesses are getting a little off track again...to clarify a little peeJ, one of your guesses was close and the other not so much

I'm guessing that my first guess was closest?

A cup of this, a bunch of these!

A little bit more of that, would you please?

How much exactly? I don't know

I'm not good with exact numbers, so...

My guess is the answer has to do with being inexact, eg approximations

And "hedge" is an approximate rhyme with orange, so I guess hedge

hmmm...not sure what i can say to this one....maybe try combining your guess with the guess from peeJ that was also close....

you are going in the right direction, just on the wrong track if that makes any sense...

Digging for tooth and nail makes me think archeology. When you're digging up fossils, when you get close to one you have to be careful not to ruin it... you have to be delicate.

Maybe ginger? Can mean delicate, and it's some kinda food thing too!

thinking about digging will help, but the tooth and nail was mainly just for rhyme.... and emphasis also as i was thinking about a figurative sort of digging

Couple? You can put a couple of this, a couple of these, into wherever, and couple rhymes with purple. But I don't see the connection with the aforementioned digging

silver spoons

getting closer.... maybe this will help

the rhyme isn't with orange or purple, it's with "with orange or purple", or at least it is in some way...

if i give you any more there won't be anything left to say really, but i can tell you that it is just one word that lines 1,3, and 4 all refer to in their own abstract way

hmm... maybe this is a little more obscure than i thought at first

1. has to do with digging and cooking

2. it can be an approximation or/for a measurement

3. it rhymes with something involved in "with orange or purple"

maybe try thinking in terms of the pieces of the line instead of the individual whole words

lol...i have seen people use shovels for cooking oysters before, but never for eating anything

the digging reference can be taken either literally or figuratively and still apply, btw

Haven't you heard of people really shoveling in the food? No?..ok. Back to another guess.
