Question

Listen closely: easy to get confused.

You have one group of two numbers. If you want to multiply either number, you have to multiply it by 1 of the 2 numbers in the group. One of the numbers gets multiplied, but NOT by the other number. How does it get multiplied?

Note: I was bored and I made this up in math class. Don't be alarmed if it baffles you.

It is multiplied by itself.

For some reason my other spoiler didn't post. Here it is again:

You have a group with two numbers: x, y. When you multiply the numbers you have to multiply them by a number within the group: xx, xy, yx, yy. One of the numbers gets multiplied, but not by the other number; so: xx, yy. How does it get multiplied?

It gets squared.
