in parts:

1. right idea but not quite.

2. nope

3. nope

4. right idea but I have something specific in mind.

6. no

7. There's no Air Force uniform left between them. (8)

flat tire

Force -> f

uniform -> attire

left -> l

[l] between them [f, attire] -> flattire

There's no air -> flat tire

I haven't given up on these, they're just pretty tough :)

That is correct.

Sometimes you have to let them marinate. :thumbsup:

8. Pick up the first dogs letter before my luck ends. (5)

truck

the first -> t (first letter of "the")

dogs letter -> r (not sure as to how this one works)

my luck ends -> uck (last half of "my luck")

pick up -> truck

YES!!

Yeah, I know; it is kind of obscure. It is actually a Shakespeare reference from Romeo and Juliet, I think. R is the dogs letter because when you say it "AR" or when you pronounce it "rrr" it sounds like a dog barking or growling.

4. Motors-home video game on English internet. (7)

engines

home video game -> NES

English -> eng

internet -> i

[NES] on [eng, i] -> engines

motors -> engines

Yes! and thank you for dispatching this one. I toyed with the singular form of the answer for a while and forgot until I was typing the final post that the clue meant it must be plural. Oh well.

Good Job! So far you are you are dominating, DudleyDude!

Well, maybe just one more; cause I can quit anytime

Run past 1,000 before a backed up southern river restricted me at the race. (9)

-- Run past = pass

-- 1000 = grand = g

-- a = re, backed = er

-- g before er = ger

-- southern river = new, up = wen, restricted = en

me at the race or passenger

Acceptance is the first step to recovery, right? Or is that acknowledgement? I acknowledge that this one's wrong.

6. It's half crazy as long as trains track cargo. (8)

-- It's half crazy = wreck

-- as long as = age

cargo or wreckage?

still a few unexplained words so will be reworking this one.

Dont tell anyone, been trying to cut down. Temptation too strong. Must but cant...got to be strong.......
It's an excellent university with free transportation. (10)

-- an excellent = a

-- university = u

-- with = to

-- free = mobile

transportation or automobile

Hey, PG that is right! I was wondering if you would weigh in.

Well, maybe just one more; cause I can quit anytime
Run past 1,000 before a backed up southern river restricted me at the race. (9)

Only the second part is correct you may need to read my clue in post #16

ah, who am I kidding.
Pluck bird with chopped off head. (6)

-- off = pull, chopped = pul

-- head = led

pulled or pluck bird? but seems like I'm missing something

No, but

the word "off" could probably be removed without changing the riddle.

I accept the fact that I'm worthless and weak

The engineer broke dishes after I saw Tonto speak. (8)

-- I = me

-- saw = chain, Tonto (crazy in Spanish) speak = chani

-- broke dishes = cups = c, after chani

the engineer or mechanic

But this reasoning seems even more of a stretch.

I can only give you partial credit. Your answer is right but the reasoning is not. You have come up with some of the same letters using different clues.

Acceptance is the first step to recovery, right? Or is that acknowledgement? I acknowledge that this one's wrong.
6. It's half crazy as long as trains track cargo. (8)

-- It's half crazy = wreck

-- as long as = age

A lot of blind alleys here.

is a pun.

Keep it up! Soon you will be on your way to recovery :lol: .

6. It's half crazy as long as trains track cargo. (8)

the answer is right but the reasoning is shaky

gasoline

It's half [crazy] as long as (first I take the half) -> asl[onga]s -> onga

trains -> els (Chicago style)

track -> I (This is the part that I'm not sure of. Capital 'I' sort of looks like a track though...)

These three together -> ongaelsi

now for the [crazy] (anagram) ->gasoline

cargo (car go) -> gasoline

5. The engineer broke dishes after I saw Tonto speak. (8)

mechanic

dishes -> china

broke dishes (china) -> chani

I-> me

after I ->mechani

Tonto speak -> he always spoke in present tense (I hope that's right)

saw -> see -> c

all together -> mechanic = the engineer

The engineer=MECHANIC

broke dishes after=CHINA anagrammed HANIC at the end

"I saw" in "Tonto speak" becomes "me see" or MEC:thumbsup:
