Question

Per chicory's request, honest, and feel obliged since (s)he solved my last WAI (you really should at least set the gender on your profile cuz it's he and chic from here on out). Think I made these a little tougher but the first two may reveal a theme, simplifying the rest somewhat. Enjoy...

Stinky, sleeping, and sheltered sounds. (6)

Existing liscense sporting injury safehouse rightly belittled. (6)

Rate posting outlines airline disclaimer prior to surgical requirement. (8)

Tiny leftward circuit shortened route nano seconds is one reason. (8)

Good male, small male, stuck in Michigan area code ward. (7)

Mass retreat of daytime soldier sounding without limits. (6)

Reflection: "Short pathway between mythical 12th and 13th tells the meaning of blindness." (9)

One lines up to say love is more questionable. (8)

For those new to these Play on Word "Quickies" - Each word or two (generally speaking) of the puzzle corresponds to a letter or two (generally speaking) "spelling" out the answer. Other descriptors can be thrown in refering to the relation of individual letters. The letters will "read" left to right as presented unless there is a descriptor that directs otherwise. For the most part, punctuation is not part of the answer but rather to make the clue read better. Other than that, the clues are very precise. There are no unnecessary words in the clues or extra letters in the answers. It's best to read these very literally. The numbers in parenthesis indicate the number of letters in the answer.

Mass = M

Daytime = AM

Soldier -> GI?

retreats -> AMMGI, AMGIM

(Sounding without limits -> I have no real idea yet)

without -> WO? (maybe?)

without limits -> get rid of what's on the ends ...

Excellent reasoning as always tiger! You have 2/3 of the six letters in the answer. Thought to use your WO explanation for another word but could not think of a specific enough synonym or short definition and didnt want to just say without (guess that means the WO is not in this answer) Keep up the good work.

Existing liscense sporting injury safehouse rightly belittled. (6)

Rate posting outlines airline disclaimer prior to surgical requirement. (8)

good male = A man

small male= am, boy, m, gram

in michigan = MamanamI, MamangramI

area = A,

code=

ward= guard,watch,see,c,

I want this one to be Anagram, but haven't justified.

Tiny leftward circuit shortened route nano seconds is one reason. (8)

not Quandary. and the rest aint it.

This one may need a bigger hint at some point.

tiny HINT]The *prior to* is totally unnecessary as the *surgical requirement* comes naturally after the other when read from left to right. Just kinda helps to read the clue as a sentence.

refer to the 'l' sound being made entirely within the mouth?

you got the concept behind sounds-that the clue suggests something that sounds like the answer which in this case (we think) is _ _ and the clue is sheltered. The word (meaning sheltered) is not very common but you know how to say it so think it will be discovered.

The direction "mass retreat" is dead on so the two letters aren't EN but _ _. Say those last two letters and compare to the clue "without limits"...

any = sounds NE

sorry, i should have noticed i had that backwards

any = sounds NE

sorry, i should have noticed i had that backwards

Dont be silly, no apologies needed.

Mass retreat of daytime soldier sounding without limits. (6)

-- Mass retreat of directs all of the following to be reversed

-- daytime = a.m. = AM

-- soldier = GI

-- without limits = any

-- sounds any = NE

-- AMGINE<--->ENIGMA

OK, I think I've got #3 figured out But I'm not sure all my reasonings are correct. It just seems to fit for me, and fit in with the overall theme... So here goes, (Don't laugh! I told you I can NOT do these types of riddles)

Rate posting outlines=MERGING ECONOMICS = ME

Airline= TA

Disclaimer = PUBLIC HEALTH WARNING= PH

Surgical requirement= OPERATING ROOM = OR

ANSWER:METAPHOR
