Question

The smartest thing I’ll ever do,

Is make harmonic rhymes for you.

You never eat, at least I’m told.

You never ask about my gold.

The slightest, nuanced turn of phrase,

Should not suffice to shift your gaze.

I always wondered what it’s for,

As glowing embers burnt the floor.

The last republic which it stands,

Was often in divided lands.

Birds will sing in mocking tones,

And fish swim over sailor’s bones.

When lies eliminates the true,

Then some violence is due.

None will ever “guess” this riddle

You may need someone’s help, a little.

Nope.

I know that you are just trying to get some meaning from my "hint", but you are barking up the wrong ladder.

Even someone with dyslexia like me knows that pyre is spelled with a "y" ;)

P.S. Typing is much better than writing, because of spell check.

Am I right or what!

P.P.S.

Just between you and me, I have noticed a grammar mistake that does not affect the outcome:

When lies eliminates the true

should be:

When lies eliminate the true

I did see that and was going to call you on it, but decided to leave well enough alone, since I'm always harping on people for that. I can't believe I misspelled that. But, then I don't think I've ever seen that one written out, before. Okay, I'm thinking hold on.

The smartest thing I’ll ever do,

Is make harmonic rhymes for you. MELODY, MUSIC, CHORUS,

You never eat, at least I’m told. FAST, STARVE, JUST DON'T EAT

You never ask about my gold. DON'T KNOW

The slightest, nuanced turn of phrase,

Should not suffice to shift your gaze. YOU WON'T TURN AWAY

I always wondered what it’s for,

As glowing embers burnt the floor. WELDING, SMOKING, OOOH, THOUGHTS THERE COMING TO ME

The last republic which it stands, I HAVE NO IDEA

Was often in divided lands.

Birds will sing in mocking tones, MOCKING BIRD, OR JUST SINGING

And fish swim over sailor’s bones. THE DEAD SEA, DAVY JONE'S LOCKER, SHIPWRECKS

When lies eliminates the true, DOUBLE NEGATIVE MAKES A POSITIVE, OR MAYBE VICE-VERSA

Then some violence is due.

None will ever “guess” this riddle

You may need someone’s help, a little.

ESPECIALLY THINKING ABOUT THE TITLE, AND HOW IT MIGHT BE REWORDED FOR SOMETHING ELSE.

I think it is very "inportent" to use correct spelling and grammar when writing a word puzzle/riddle. :P

This is not a hint, just an observation.

That's funny. So, that was just silly, there, then? Misspelling "Inportent?" I was wondering at all the bold you put in your last answer to me, wondering if you're especially guiding us somewhere. I'm still not seeing it. But, aside from hints. I'm just trying to figure out the riddle as it stands. It's a tough one to crack, since it's SO broad, you know?

I'm getting a lot of vibes from you about: double meanings, misspelled words, and lies/deceit. Something about opposites. I know there's some big picture here, I'm not seeeing.

All I can say is that this riddle was written specifically to obfuscate.

and

You might have more luck with the titles.

So no magical reference? Or introductory course in spelling/grammar? You say so broad but a common thing along the lines of

leprechaun keep reoccurring to me. Like that Republic bit and the violence maybe northern Ireland and the general allusion to mischief and singing. So if not a leprechaun, maybe ferry, sprite, imp, pixie? Think imp (as in Imperial if spelled correctly)

What do you think, lover?

Just a little misdirection, not a hint. I was actually making reference to another riddle that has nothing to do with this one but that you perfectly summed up my feelings toward in some posts.

BTW, I am addicted to bold and itallics (this is not a hint).

You got the reference I was making in the the misspelling of "inportent" but now we are way off course.

The vibes that you are picking up on in my replies are just my natural way of speaking and not hints or clues.

I just thought of something relating to the title. Just wanted to blurt it out
growth. I'll explain it when I get back from eating.

So, I was thinking

GRRR! Oath! Growth. But, I know, I'm reading too much into that. But had to say it. Too much fun thinking plainglazedy.

Fool?

It fits part of it...

You don't eat, or so I'm told - only fools would be gullible enough to believe that

You never ask about my gold - fool's gold

I always wondered what it’s for,

As glowing embers burnt the floor. - only a fool would stand around wondering about something when his house is about to burn down

But I don't see how it'd fit the rest

I think this is a good idea, except a little stretch in places. But, I'm trying to think along the same lines, just can't find the commonality.

TEST. But, I'm rushing it. Hold on

The smartest thing I’ll ever do,

Is make harmonic rhymes for you.

You never eat, at least I’m told.

You never ask about my gold.

The slightest, nuanced turn of phrase,

Should not suffice to shift your gaze.

I always wondered what it’s for,

As glowing embers burnt the floor.

The last republic which it stands,

Was often in divided lands.

Birds will sing in mocking tones,

And fish swim over sailor’s bones.

When lies eliminates the true,

Then some violence is due.

None will ever “guess” this riddle

You may need someone’s help, a little.

I've been looking for that sort of thing, this whole time, though and STILL have no idea.
