I'm not a gardener

Question

Snow has fallen to the ground

Still my lawn is clear

Lifeblood flowing all around

Doesn't wander here

Spring and Summer, nearly drown

Watering the lawn

Whether grass is green or brown

I will make it strong

When the days are hot as hell

Shade the sun above

Scorching not the quiet well

Where they fell in love

ok so...

this is all metaphorical, so your lawn probably isn't an actual lawn. No one wanders near it, as you can tell. Someone fell in love, is that relevant? um can't think of any thing else right now.

grounds keeper or landscaper?

Maybe in a ballpark or football field? Greenhouse?

'Fraid not. My custom is to write riddles that seem to be referring to one thing (a distractor named in the title) but are actually about something else. And the title of this one is "I'm not a gardener"

(Edit: and it's definitely still too early for any sorts of hints yet)

Is there a question? i.e. What am I? / Who am I? Or should we just guess like crazy?
Good point, they're usually "What am I"s but I hadn't been very liberal with the pronouns here. Try to identify what is being described.

I know I'm wrong, but I can't get these out of my head.

island

Not sure how the snow falling clue would fit with an island, or how the well fits in

someone bald

A different interpretation than the one I had in mind could make most of the riddle fit with going bald, but the Spring and Summer watering and description as a quiet well I can't seem to make fit.

a cloud?

Also could work with much of the riddle with an appropriate interpretation, but I'm not sure how the lawn kept clear from the snowfall would fit, or where the well would come into play

the desert?

Having trouble seeing how the second stanza would fit

Comments on the answers in both posts are added within the spoiler. No solution yet.

"body"?

The "quiet well" can denote mouth, and this perfectly fits in with "love".

Am I at least thinking along the right lines?

Hmm, I rarely if ever consider a mouth to be quiet, but I suppose it might be possible if someone is suddenly and severely smitten (or too busy smooching to be flapping their yap). Not what I had in mind, and I'm having trouble seeing how the first and second stanzas would fit; did you have interpretations in mind, or just fishing?

It's still too early for hints. This is one I think people will be able to get.

Still I think of some sort of

person. Maybe perhaps a person who has passed away. And maybe someone was sad that this person died, I don't know, I'm just throwing out ideas here.

wait, it could even just be a
tree? I doubt it, but just maybe...

I see how that could work with much of the riddle, but don't understand how it might with the lifeblood flowing all around except here, or how the well comes into play. And your earlier answer of someone deceased, or a grave, seems like it might fit with everything except the first two lines (a very different twist on the last line: "Where they fell, in love"). Not what I had in mind though.

It seems to me, I could figure this out. I'm imagining a place where things don't go/tread. The second stanza speaks of lots of water in spring and summer. And the third stanza speaks of shade from the scorching sun, but there is still water where "they" fell in love. Lifeblood, is basically "life" right? I was thinking for a moment, a greenhouse, but that's too similar to the title, and doesn't make that last two lines make sense to me. The whole last stanza, actually, as you wouldn't shade a green house.

I also thought of a skating rink. But that doesn't make sense, since, technically the snow DOES fall there, and lifeblood...people? Hmm. So, I'm thinking on this, I swear I'll get it. But, it hasn't clicked yet. It's a very mysterious riddle to me, I love it.

Mistletoe could fit the first stanza if it's hung indoors and too high for the partygoers to reach. But the second stanza I don't think would fit well - tough to drown while you're hanging in a tree, and rather than keeping the grass strong mistletoe is a parasite.

It's still kind of early, but I'll just say that this is more metaphorical than where most of the answers have been heading. I'll plan to post a clue if it isn't guessed after being up for 24.

I'm having so much fun with your riddle!

I know this is wrong, but I can't help thinking of

gazebo

It doesn't fit with most of it. Still, if I don't post it, I won't be able to free my brain of it.

Still thinking.

You could make a fairly good case for rain – it can be made to fit most of the clues. I don't think I'd go so far as to call it an alternate answer, though, just because the "well" clue is still left sort of hanging. Worms I believe have hemolymph rather than blood which would make them a valid choice, but don't think they can really be made to fit with the "snow" clue. And a gazebo would attract people.

Again, what I have in mind is more metaphorical.

Still thinking, then...

In the meantime,

An underground spring I don't follow: if it eventually makes it to the surface then it will attract animals, if not the line about making the grass strong wouldn't work. The Garden of Eden doesn't have a well as far as I know. I can't really see how a picture album would work.

I'll go ahead and post a hint if you want it.

If you were inclined to dig a moat, then would your grass be blue?
