The answer is actually fairly simple, in the sense that it isn't anything too abstract, deep, or poetic. I'll add another verse in a little while and hopefully it will help out. In pacman you have options as to where to go, but you always try to get the dots, and you shun the other paths. Plus, it isn't long before you either retrace your steps, or you die and you start a new game. And there's always trouble around the corner, from the monsters.
