Question

Could be the perfect storm

But no, not either or.

And for not telling the truth

I've plead the fifth before.

'Cause in your local armory

You might swap me in kind,

For this life line's no aid;

Is another way to find.

A forceful piece that's constant

Carved a slice of special cake.

Put it all together and

Some sense of this you'll make.

You have no idea how irritated I was to look in my periodic table & find the 5th element is not Lithium (Li) !!! Maybe the thinking is off on my namesake?

5th element - soul/heart/spirit, Boron (B)

measure of alcohol

chord/scale/other music related

Beethoven's

bank

avenue

pinky finger/toe

day of creation - animals of land, air, sea

month of May

Your fifth (element) = B is closest as is chicory's L from being the fifth letter in this line of the puzzle. Still need a different one tho.

Dont be irritated. You will be satisfied in the end.

first word from first pair of lines is Easter

second word we have lie(s, ing) as the root word and best guesses for fifth are chicory's L from fifth letter in this line of the puzzle and tiger_lilly111's B from fifth element.

third word only that it can be derived totally from the first line of the third pairing

fourth and fifth word: tiger_lily111's post #15 contains a piece of each.

Try to clear your minds of everything else especially my screwy responses. Not meant to confuse but feel they too often do.

Could be the perfect storm

But no, not either or.

-- perfect storm: concurrence of factors resulting in disastrous situation

-- not either or: neither concurrence nor disaster -> separate (expected?) event

And for not telling the truth

I've plead the fifth before.

-- not truth: lies

-- plead 5th: protect self, prevent perjury

'Cause in your local armory

You might swap me in kind,

-- local armory: arms/weapons storage

-- swap in kind: trade in for similar value, swapmeet, trade show?

For this life line's no aid;

Is another way to find.

-- life line's no help: phone-a-friend, palm reading

-- another way to find: search, faith, palm pilot?

A forceful piece that's constant

Carved a slice of special cake.

-- constant force: gravitational?

-- forceful piece: continuous/enduring music

-- special cake: wedding, retirement, birthday, funeral -> celebration

choosing easter theme: palm

5th cross sacrifice resurrection rebirthday cake

Well, thought I'd put this one in there but didn't.
Letter of the alphabet, E

Yes, that's correct. Now follow the directions as to where to place your answer and voila, second word solved?

Adding: Then hopefully the theme or the connection of the five words can be guessed thereby suggesting possibilities for the other three words.

ely, elies, 'elies, he lies,

Easter ly, lye, lies

e(cause in your local armory

-- Eli (is the spelling in this case).

sorry for the edit. had forgot to put this in a spoiler at first

And for not telling the truth

I've plead the fifth before.

-- And for just means second word comes from the following

-- not telling the truth = LIE

-- I've plead refers to sounds like ( or phonetically) LIE so LI in this case

-- the fifth = fifth letter of the alphabet = E

-- before = direction that E is before LI

-- (or just E before LIE)

ELI

Now knowing the first two words can you make a connection? The common theme should then give suggestions as to what the other three words may be...

but different eli
elli norse old age

cause + your local armory = cause + moral colour ray =corollary

you could swap me/em in kind= they are alike in essence

Not this either.

Think about the other two answers already derived. Same level of complication with the remainder. A root word with something added or subtracted or rearranged. These are similar. Line three is even simpler if you can notice the play (have used it once before). And again, knowing the theme will be of great help.

Could be the perfect storm

But no, not either or. -- Nor'easter - nor = Easter

And for not telling the truth

I've plead the fifth before. -- E before sounds like lie = Eli

'Cause in your local armory--it can be derived totally from the first line of the third pairing and also is a most simple POW if recognized.

You might swap me in kind,--this line is a segue to next line only (not part of an answer to one of the words)

For this life line's no aid; -- tiger_lily111's post #15 contains a piece

Is another way to find.

Carved a slice of special cake. -- tiger_lily111's post #15 contains a piece

Eli either.

I did a good bit of googling in my "spare time" today & couldn't find a direct connection between Easter & Eli,

that all the words will start with E?

Endure/enduring/endures or similar.

Then carve may indicate removal of letters?

:offtopic: @ chicory & others playing ... I hope we manage to solve this by early Saturday morning or I'm going to be frustrated this weekend (away from computer) ... we can do it!

No, the other three words do not start with E.

Just typed in word two in my google toolbar and the auto finish drop down menu prominantly listed the answer which I know you would immediately recognize as the connection.

I had left a unlabeled HINT in my response to you in post #81.

:duh: Was trying them in combination instead of separately. So yea!

Lilies!

Easter - lily

Eli - Lilly (pharmaceutical co)

Palm Lily? Some of them are kinda funny looking.

& that's the last of my brainpower for 2:30 AM. Maybe after sleep ...

So yea, indeed. You got the connection. Am thinking this will suggest several possibles for the other three words and then they can kinda be fit to puzzle.

Not this type for #4, tho. Work with the other one you had mentioned for this one.
