Guest Posted May 30, 2009 Report Share Posted May 30, 2009 It's been toggling around in my head for almost two days now..finally got around to penning it...It shouldn't be that hard.. Free verse/mixed verse WAI? My subjects protect me, out in front, moving ever forward. Taking only of their neighbors, they've proven to be quite loyal. My walls provide a barrier, of which you cannot breach, with both of them together, Me, you cannot hope to reach. Horsemen abound to keep me safe, dashing here and there, Just when you thought you had 'em, It's off again they go! My holy men may seem simple; travelling only where they've been. A straight line, yes, but forward, no; They deflect most wonderfully. My beautiful bride, at my side, Beware of her short temper; For she may travel far and wide if she you have insulted. Call me coward, if you like for hiding within my numbers; My true power, you can't deny, if I die, then all is lost. Who am I? What am I a part of? Who are all these people? Free verse/mixed verse WAI?
My subjects protect me, out in front,
moving ever forward.
Taking only of their neighbors,
they've proven to be quite loyal.
My walls provide a barrier,
of which you cannot breach,
with both of them together,
Me, you cannot hope to reach.
Horsemen abound to keep me safe,
dashing here and there,
Just when you thought you had 'em,
It's off again they go!
My holy men may seem simple;
travelling only where they've been.
A straight line, yes, but forward, no;
They deflect most wonderfully.
My beautiful bride, at my side,
Beware of her short temper;
For she may travel far and wide
if she you have insulted.
Call me coward, if you like
for hiding within my numbers;
My true power, you can't deny,
if I die, then all is lost.
Who am I?
What am I a part of?
Who are all these people?
