Question

I sit all day, and there I stay,

Unless you pick me up: move I may.

I come in many different shapes and sizes,

Sometimes, my outside, beauty disguises.

Precious, though I may be,

You may skip over me.

Many different names; river, a city, food.

If you guess any of them, I’ll call it good.

The last two line referred to the many different names for a rock: stone, rock (river), boulder (city in CO), pebble (fruity pebbles).

If you guessed any rock-like word, I'd have given it to you. But, rock is what I had in mind.

A Rock? but the last 2 lines not sure about.
