Question

I take a direction, left of the rising sun.

It’s a long way up, up in the sky, this one.

A path in life, the samurai know.

This is where I wish to go.

This is a faster way to get us there.

But, in solving these directions, do beware.

Are you going to turn left?

the point is "left of the rising sun." whether I'm turning, going to turn, have turned, doesn't matter. It's the "direction" which matters.

Are you going to turn left?

By the way, there is a spoiler button on your left, when writing a post. Click on it, and fill in the answer on the bottom field and anything you damn well please, on the top field. : ) (I read your signature)

none of these. I'm sorry, deanna, that sucks, BIG TIME
It's one of my two-part riddles
Yeah, but I'll be better soon I hope. This just happens every once in a while... No fun when it's here, but you learn to deal with it. So if I disappear again, you know why... Thanx for the hint but,
Two words, or Two parts to one word?

One word comprised of two.

Good answer. And while you have exactly the right idea, wrong answer. And remember that the last stanza will describe (more or less) the answer.

Northbound?

Wait, is it
Northward?

~ Samurai -> sword? ~

Okay. I think much "direction" is needed for you guys to solve this riddle.

Both words are direction related. Northbound I think is great. But, both words are related to direction, just as Northbound is, but then the word doesn't become a direction, it becomes a "thing."

I suggest paying more attention to the second line than the first. The first is more "association" and not as precise. The second line more describes what I'm looking for.

Second stanza, don't think about what samurai's do, but rather, what they would call their "path in life."

northeast train?

Let me tell you all, now, it has nothing to do with north, but another sort of direction which north suggests. Focus on the second line more than the first.

The way of the sword. I can't get a one word direction word out of that, though.. Maybe High way = highway....
