water for a trip

This is a clasic problem that I am sure many of you have seen before but, fun non the less:

You are a farmer who grows mutliple types of crops and rotates your fields each season. You going to take a trip across the desert to see a soothsayer who is going to give you information about the weather for the upcoming crop season on your side of the desert. You have to take water if you are to survive on the trip. You know that you need 4 gal. of water from your well on your land to make it with out dehydrating on the trip. You know this because you take the trip every year, 2 weeks before it is time to plant your seed. You have two containers, a 5 gal. container and a 3 gal. container. Although you could fill the 5gal. container up completely, it would be too heavy for you to take on the trip, so you have to figure out how to get exactly 4 gal. of water into the 5 gal. continer, no more no less. have fun

it's a simple water pouring puzzle.

fill the 5 gal. and pour it into the 3 gal. you now have 2 gal. left in the 5 gal container.

empty the 3 gal. container and pour the 2 gal. left from the 5 gal. container into the 3 gal. container.

fill the 5 gal. again and fill the 3 gal. container with it, you now have 4 gal. left into the 5 gal. container.
