Question

How sweetly I can sing

When talent joy doth bring,

And also mark the part

To show your love of art

My anger can help pierce

I aid the cold and fierce,

We sought and found new places

I went first in all those cases

Yet my fondest, first success

Is those who love you to impress.

if you have talent

you whistle!!

all right

I'm just going to have to give you this one

does no one here play an instrument?

How sweetly I can sing, when talent joy doth bring

so can't sing on its own, needs someone's talent

an instrument is a clue to the first couplet

now someone pick any other couplet to work on

or try to work out the answer

I've said that like twice, and gubdude said it right after me, I've been trying to get you to read it.

So, onto the next one, like I also said.

BIG APOLOGY

to lotus and gubdude

something is wrong with the server i guess, some answers are posting late

i'll give it more time between my responses

yes thinking of an instrument for the first clue is correct

on to next one

And also mark the part

To show your love of art

MARK THE PART is key and means just that Tells you the point at which you "show your love of art"

how do you show your "love of art"????

think end of a play you liked, or after you hear a piece of music...

clapping? applause? standing ovation?

100% correct

so now you have two clues to look for things they have in common

these two are

instrument

something that tells me when to clap or shout bravo or whatever it is I do to show i loved that piece of art

Let's now look at the third couplet

any thoughts to start us with?

I would say the answer was

an encore,

If this couplet wasn't in the riddle. Hmm.

I'm gonna think harder on this one. Give me a second.

I can't think of a single thing that anger, cold, and fierce, and pierce relate to.

heart is a bit of a stretch, isn't it?

fire / heat

no, because i need something cold

i need something something cold and fierce, something that this thing we are looking for would "in anger" help this cold and fierce thing to pierce

just writing the same riddle lines in a different way might help

all wrong answers again so far

we have found two correct clues to two first couplets

you have not yet found the answer to these couplets as the correct answer to any couplet is the answer to the riddle

it is the same word we are looking for, over and over again

if you don't see it yet, continue working through the couplets

so far we have clues

1. instrument

2. something that tells you when to applaud

looking for

(third couplet) a clue for: something that in anger aids something cold and fierce to pierce

or we can skip to the next couplet

if you are to read the clues simply then "We" would just mean us - the humans. How exactly did we in our history seek and find new places?
