Guest
An old woman sits in her chair, While all her little grandkids sit and stare. The blue cotton/flax, she’s made her choice, “This is the one,” she starts with her voice. Strong are her fingers and sharp is her mind, While skillfully she starts to wind and wind. She picks up speed, the children are in awe. As grandma works her magick without a flaw. Eventually they know there must come an end To the beautiful, blue cotton/flax blend. The children giggle with glee and delight, As grandma puts the ball down and tells them goodnight. “Please, Grandmother, do it again!” Grandmother paused, chuckled, and then.. She picked up the mohair, fluffy and brown, And started to wind it, round and round. Grandmother showed them; the children aglow. What was she really doing, though? I think I have a masterpiece here. : ) Good luck. It shouldn't be too hard, though it was VERY fun to write.

0 Guest
Is she really mother nature spinning hurricanes and tornadoes? No, not in the right direction. But, you are thinking with the right part of your brain about it. The closest answer yet, though still a bit off.
0 Guest
Is she just making balls of yarn? that seems to obvious and off the track of the guess above... the second guess i have is more of a question... does it have any thing to do with cycles/seasons? 0 Guest
Is she just making balls of yarn? That's what the riddle says she is doing. Yes, start there. But "what is she really doing, though." means just that. Ugh trying to find just the right answer. Edited April 29, 2009 by lotus

The closest answer yet, though still a bit off. I cant really figure it out but it sounds like grandmother is some celestial body in space and shes pulling objects in to her orbit or something until they finally fall out of orbit... I think the children are stars watching or something. I feel I'm probably still thinking in the wrong direction though
0 Guest
spinning tales, telling stories Yay!!! Yes, that's it exactly! I'm glad you got it, but I'm always scared to give guidance or steer answerers in the right direction, because once I do it once, the answer is usually VERY CLEAR. That's just the nature of my riddles, I guess. But I liked this one. : ) Good job.

0 Guest
So it's like Grandma is the Sun, surrounded by her grandchildren the "Planets", and she is making a planet for each of the children? Started with Earth (blue cotton/flax) and then Mars (fluffy brown mohair)? spinning tales (telling stories)
