0 Guest
laughter? To help a bit - just in terms of summing up wrong answers It is not laughter, joy, smiling, rejoicing... It cannot be because the riddle says "those who want me honestly leave little room for jest" If it helps you can ask specific questions about parts of riddle if you need to. 0 Guest
Personally, I thought of something more physical when I first read the riddle: Except at a funeral, I am a welcome guest. Those who want me, honestly, Leave little room for jest. Though I am worth a bundle, I do regret to say, No one yet has beaten mine, in cheaper ways to pay. My answer is an Excavator Machine, and I'll explain in a perfectly logical way. Guest part - Obviously seeing the Excavator sitting there at a funeral would be a little disturbing, knowing that it is about to bury your beloved one. Honesty & Jest - Excavators are very big, expensive pieces of equipment and I doubt someone would joke around about spending that much money to buy or even hire an Excavator Machine. Worth - Same as above Cheaper way - They can probably dig up a grave 1000 times faster than a guy with a shovel. Logic stands. Cookie please. I like the puzzles I've seen from you so far dancer, although I'm greener than you...

No the answer will be simple and apparent, no need to stretch your imagination that far. I would suggest start from the beginning, translate lines so they make sense to you and go from there. 0 Guest
Here is a my FIRST BIG HINT, for those who want it I mentioned the funeral only because I needed to make an additional clarification, as in make a distinction between something appropriate vs inappropriate, where the two are actually very similar but in this setting quite different. Respect You show respect at a funeral for the person who died, but any other time people want to be respected. Respect is something serious, so you would laugh about it or make fun of it. Being respected can be a valuable thing, and it gives authority and power. It also costs nothing to pay someone respect.

Respect is something serious, so you would laugh about it or make fun of it. Being respected can be a valuable thing, and it gives authority and power. It also costs nothing to pay someone respect. But the answer we are looking for is NOT WELCOME at a funeral. So can't be respect. But all this you say is relevant to the answer.
